Riddle

Remember this riddle?
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain cathedral down.
The answer? Hurry up please, it's time. No no no, time isn't the answer -- this isn't The Hobbit, you nerd. The answer is bees.
