One of my most treasured possessions is the original VHS of Bernhard's "Without You I'm Nothing," which I used to watch over and over again in 1990 and had practically memorized. Nothing can ever top the messed-up weirdness of the Jewish bourgeois white chick singing Nina Simone's 1960s race anthem, "Four Women." If you know the words and you can imagine Bernhard singing them, it's just so f*&k-ed up, it's unbelievable, and funny as hell, of course. I wish I could be there.
