Just out from Palgrave Macmillan is Susan Signe Morrison's The Literature of Waste: Material Ecopoetics and Ethical Matter. It's a wonderful book: you may read the blurb I composed for it (as well as those of many others) if you follow the link in the previous sentence and scroll down. You can also read the introduction at the Palgrave Macmillan website. And you can read some earlier work by Morrison right here on the blog.
The Literature of Waste is an important book, and I love to see a medievalist writing for an audience that will include so many non-medievalists. I wish that Palgrave Macmillan would rethink their pricing though: the book is ninety dollars for a print on demand volume. Yup, POD for $90. I find that price and that method of printing especially frustrating because I do believe a book like this could easily be read by a general public interested in the topic. Morrison's writing is smart and accessible throughout.
